Ingrown Fungal and Deformed Nails

Ingrown nails, the most common nail impairment, are nails whose corners or sides dig painfully into the soft tissue of nail grooves, often leading to irritation, redness, and swelling. Usually, toenails grow straight out. Sometimes, one or both corners or sides curve and grow into the flesh. The big toe is the most common location for this condition, but other toes can also become affected.

Ingrown toenails are caused by

  • Heredity factors such as an incurvated nail plate of fleshy toe
  • Shoe pressure; crowding of toes
  • Repeated damage from sport or work
  • Improperly trimmed nails

Thick nails are typically caused by damage to the nail root, which frequently is permanent.

Fungal nails are a tinea infection that leads to separation of the nail from the nail bed and discoloration. If untreated, it can lead to permanent nail deformity.

There is surgical and non-surgical management of toenail disorders, such as appropriate nail cutting, treatment of nail fungus, or regular ongoing nail cutting and thinning down of the nails.

Surgery to provide a permanent cure for ingrowing toenails that can be performed under local anesthesia in our rooms with minimal pain or disruption to your daily life that has a high level of success.
